When performing construction work, there is often a need to reliably connect elements made of different materials, ensure the fixation of finishing and insulating panels to the facades and internal walls of buildings, and also seal cavities. When performing work using the traditional method, there was a need to transport heavy bags of construction materials, use additional equipment, as well as supply water and electrical energy. The process was labor-intensive and dusty.
Today an innovative product has appeared - polyurethane foam, which is called Macroflex. The new product makes it possible to carry out construction activities quickly and with minimal labor costs. The composition is of high quality, allowing it to replace cement and similar mixtures, as well as increased adhesion to materials common in construction. The promising building composition is supplied in convenient packaging, allowing it to be used in the construction of small objects.
Due to the fact that the area of use of the described material involves outdoor work, the possibility of use at low temperatures is a useful property
Let us dwell in detail on the performance properties and unique characteristics of Makroflex foaming adhesive, evaluate the advantages, analyze the disadvantages, and consider the specifics of the application.
Pros and cons of Macroflex foam
Macroflex foam is a one-component composition that is completely ready for use; it does not need to be mixed or diluted. Thanks to the packaging in the form of a tube, the foam is very convenient to apply - all you need to do is purchase a suitable mounting gun.
To work, you don’t have to carry heavy bags, buy expensive tools and equipment, waste electricity, water, or stir up dust and dirt. The absence of the need to mix mortar seriously reduces time costs and helps carry out construction and repairs much faster.
Other properties and advantages of the composition are as follows:
- high strength of any joints (no less than standard cement mortars);
- the ability to replace dry building mixtures in many situations;
- effective joining of homogeneous and dissimilar building materials;
- suitability for working with both horizontal and vertical surfaces indoors and outdoors;
- reliable sealing and insulation of seams from moisture and minimization of heat loss;
- short time until complete hardening;
- ability to withstand heat and freezing;
- the ability to carry out work at sub-zero temperatures;
- control of foam consumption thanks to a special packaging design;
- absence of chlorofluorocarbon propellants in the composition;
- low price and low cost of work.
Foam-cement "Macroflex" effectively glues, seals, seals cracks, strengthens and provides moisture, sound, and thermal insulation of structures, so it can be called a universal building material.
Despite the impressive list of advantages, foam also has disadvantages. “Macroflex” is a composition that, after hardening, is prone to shrinkage. However, due to the strong expansion after setting, most often such shrinkage remains unnoticeable.
Under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, the foam gradually collapses, but this disadvantage can be smoothed out by protecting its top layer with mortars, putties, and sealants. "Macroflex" cannot be used for installing load-bearing walls - the composition is only suitable for lighter structures.
Construction adhesive "Macroflex" - tips for use
High-quality performance of construction work depends on compliance with the recommendations of the foam manufacturer.
When laying concrete blocks outside and inside the premises, observe the following requirements:
- Apply glue in parallel strips to the surface of the blocks, ensuring a distance of 30–50 mm to the vertical edge of the block. For wall thicknesses less than 115 mm, one strip in the center of the block is sufficient;
- install the blocks within three minutes after lubricating with the mounting compound;
- ensure that the first row of masonry is horizontal, using cement mortar if necessary;
- adjust the position of the blocks within 60 seconds after applying the glue;
The glue will reliably isolate the seams from moisture and reduce heat loss in the building
- control the horizontality of the rows using a building level;
- sand the surface of the blocks using a rasp;
- perform plastering no earlier than 120 minutes after completion of the masonry;
- Do not use the composition for laying main walls.
When installing gypsum panels, follow the recommendations:
- Form adhesive strips on the inside of the panel, ensuring an interval of 150 mm between them.
- Provide a distance from the end of the panel equal to 50 mm.
- Press the panel down within three minutes after lubricating.
- Secure the finishing material.
- Perform grouting and necessary finishing measures 120 minutes after gluing.
When installing stair steps or window sills, pay attention to the need to follow the following rules:
- squeeze out the foam in three parallel strips at intervals of 100–150 mm along the larger side;
- install and press the product to be connected with a weight of 10 kg, ensuring immobility for an hour.
Using Macroflex, degrease and ensure the cleanliness of the surfaces to be bonded, and remove peelable parts. Work with a cylinder kept in a warm room. During construction activities, periodically shake the container 10–15 times.
Range
For every consumer there is a product made from the Makroflex line:
- Makroflex Premium is a premium product that has increased pressure in the cylinder for quick foam release.
- Makroflex PRO 65 professional - foam comes out in increased volumes and standard.
- Macroflex special installation compounds: 2x2 - all-season, FR77 - fire-resistant, 2K 8MIN, Siberian 65 PRO - winter, foam-cement - construction;
- Makroflex White is a one-component white composition.
Recommendations for using foam
If you plan to apply several layers of foam on top of each other, spray each layer with water. Do not remove the can from the gun until the composition is completely used up. When the container is empty, it is carefully disconnected from the gun and immediately replaced with a new one so that the foam inside the tool does not harden. After all work is completed, the gun is cleaned with a special liquid, Makroflex Premium Cleaner, or regular acetone. If the foam has hardened, it can only be cleaned mechanically.
The use of foam requires compliance with safety measures:
- when working, it is important to ensure excellent ventilation and use a respirator;
- the cylinder is under pressure, and its spraying near an open fire is unacceptable;
- If foam gets on your skin or eyes, they should be rinsed immediately with water.
Macroflex foam is a high-quality composition of a new generation that greatly facilitates the work of the master. In some cases, it will eliminate the need to use cement and other construction mixtures, saving time and money.
Adhesive cement
The name “glue-cement” can hide several varieties of products. Cement-based tile adhesive (or cement glue) in the form of a dry mixture, which is sold in bags. Dry glue, when combined with water, forms a plastic solution, characterized by high adhesion and ease of use. With the help of tile adhesive, it is possible to tiling with tiles from various materials and perform other construction and finishing work. Cement adhesive is suitable for fixing materials on horizontal and vertical surfaces. It is first necessary to clean the base from dirt and dust. The cement-based mixture hardens quickly and does not shrink, which makes it widely used in construction and finishing work in rooms of various functions. But cement adhesive requires work to prepare the mixture, so the composition should not be considered as an alternative. But polyurethane adhesive cement is produced in aerosol cans. The work is done quickly, cleanly and conveniently.
Description
Adhesive cement is a polyurethane one-component composition, fast hardening, non-expanding, high-performance, replaces cement and cement-adhesive mixtures. Available in metal aerosol cans. Does not require time and effort to prepare the solution. Adhesive cement is characterized by its economical use, simplicity and convenience of use, high speed of work, eliminates cold bridges, application is carried out using a special gun. Resistant to moisture, mildew and aging. It is a good alternative to traditional cement masonry mortars.

Manufacturers
Adhesive cement is produced under several brands. You can find products from TECHNONICOL, Kolt, Master Teks, etc. on sale. Each manufacturer offers its own recommendations for use and provides information about the main characteristics and features. The list of brands is not so extensive, so when choosing, you should pay special attention to other factors.
Criterias of choice
One of the main parameters is the characteristics of the base. Despite the possibility of successfully working with many materials, you should carefully study the instructions for use. Many manufacturers indicate types of substrates that are not recommended to work with using adhesive cement of certain brands. When choosing an adhesive, it is also necessary to take into account the parameters of the material from which the masonry is made. In addition, when choosing, you need to remember the main technical characteristics, the indicators of which differ from one manufacturer to another.
Advantages
The main advantage of Makroflex foam is its ease of use. Simply shake the can and apply it to the surface. This allows you to work with the material even at sub-zero temperatures.
- Instant readiness for work and the ability to hold objects together no worse than with cement. Convenience and cost-effectiveness are ensured by a special nozzle-gun, which allows you to apply exactly as much composition as required. This makes it possible to avoid excess consumption of foam cement. The manufacturer claims that one cylinder of the composition can replace 1 bag of cement.
- Can be applied to both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Moreover, the composition is universal and can be used with a wide variety of materials.
I recommend everyone to read my colleague’s article on how to buy cement correctly and not make a mistake when buying. To do this, simply follow this link.
- Shrinkage during hardening is insignificant, which distinguishes foam from other building materials.
- Foam cement can be applied even to dry surfaces. But you should understand that the presence of ice and snow on the product is unacceptable.
- The composition hardens very quickly. Its use is relevant not only when laying, but also when connecting individual parts to each other.
- Makroflex foam has a high hardening rate and also has high compacting and penetrating properties.
Useful tips and tricks
Before using MACROFLEX foam cement, the surfaces to be bonded should be thoroughly cleaned of any contaminants and degreased in one way or another. Before direct use, if possible, foam containers are kept at a temperature of 20-23 degrees Celsius for 12 hours and shaken vigorously with sharp movements at least 20 times.
The gun can be removed from the cylinder only after the cylinder is completely empty, after which its applicator is immediately washed with Premium Cleaner. Or, if the installation and construction work is not completed, it is replaced as quickly as possible with a fresh container of MACROFLEX foam cement

Use of foam cement
Advantages and disadvantages of Makroflex
The difference between this mixture and the usual polyurethane foam in cylinders is that it can be used as polyurethane foam adhesive for aerated concrete blocks.
Cement brand M500: how to choose and characteristics
How does it differ from other fastening compounds?
- Compared to other foams, cement foam does not expand much and shrinks slightly - which is especially important for strong masonry.
- In masonry on foam-cement, thin joints (1-2 mm) can be made, through which less heat is lost. For comparison: a seam made of cement-sand mortar is at least 10 mm.
- Liquid cement in cans is more expensive than cement mortar, but it also consumes less.
- To work, you do not need to dilute the solution; the work takes place without dust, dirt and almost effortlessly. And bringing cylinders to the site is easier than carrying bags of cement.
- You can work where there is no water or electricity.
- It dries faster than cement, so work takes less time.
- Allows you to work in fairly cold weather.
- Allows you to work indoors - it does not have a pungent odor, after hardening it completely evaporates.
- Foam cement is universal, it can be introduced into hard-to-reach places, onto vertical surfaces and applied to almost any material.
Macroflex foam cement also has some disadvantages:
- due to its slight expansion, it is not consumed as economically as other polyurethane foams;
- under the influence of sunlight it is destroyed;
- This is a chemically hazardous composition for the eyes, skin, and respiratory organs.
Regarding the last point: if you follow safety precautions (which is generally important during any construction work), then you will not face any negative effects from spraying a toxic substance. And to protect the foam from ultraviolet radiation, it is enough to cover it with paint, putty or plaster.
Reviews about use
“In general, I like Macroflex.
The foam is denser than regular foam, but this, it seems to me, is precisely due to the cement content. Therefore, foaming occurs less intensely than with others. On the other hand, how else to ensure the strength of the connections if the mass consists mostly of air? The only thing I’m dissatisfied with is that sometimes you come across cylinders that need to be pierced with something, otherwise the foam doesn’t come out. But this is the fault of old cans that have been in storage for a year.” Sergey Abramov, Samara.
“I took Macroflex several times when I had to work on aerated concrete. The alternative to glue is excellent; it holds the blocks even on a vertical wall. But I have big complaints about the number of defects. Some of the cylinders have to be simply thrown out of the packaging - some kind of viscous mass is leaking. Despite the fact that Macroflex’s price is not too different from other brands, in general the work is a little more expensive because of this.”
Alexey, Nizhny Novgorod.
“Despite the dissatisfied reviews, I prefer Macroflex. What I like most is that its foam formation is completely predictable - all the gaps are filled well, and excess does not come out. I work with him all the time, I’m already accustomed to the peculiarities of his “behavior,” so there are no problems. But in terms of quality, it has recently begun to fail: shrinkage has appeared, defects are slipping. It’s time for the manufacturer to think about it.”
Roman Afanasenko, Yekaterinburg.
“Sometimes I come across reviews about Makroflex polyurethane foam, saying, why is it needed if the solution is cheaper. I don’t even understand how you can choose between foam and solution. My opinion is that each composition has its own use, and there is no point in trying to replace one with another. Yes, before there was nothing except ordinary cement. But now there are adhesive foams, and they need to be used for their intended purpose: to build houses from hollow blocks. It’s beautiful – the rows are dense, the mixture doesn’t go into the holes, and there’s less dirt on the site.” “And I don’t think Macroflex has enough lower temperature limit for winter use. There are mounting compounds for all-season use - the same 2x2 or "Siberian" Pro65 with good reviews and a lower threshold of -15 ° C, while cement has only -5. In cold weather, you have to be content with other compositions, but you have to mix them yourself, which, being lazy, already annoys me.”
Before using Macroflex, the surfaces to be treated should be cleaned of dirt and grease, and any loose pieces should be removed. Before starting work, the cylinders are kept in a warm room for about 12 hours. Before application, shake the container vigorously with sharp movements at least 15 times. By the way, until the jar is empty, shaking will have to be repeated quite often.
You can remove the gun only when the composition in the container is completely empty, after which the applicator is thoroughly washed with Premium Cleaner liquid from the same Macroflex (180 rubles for a half-liter bottle). If the installation work has not yet been completed, the used cylinder should be quickly replaced with a new one so that the mixture does not begin to set in air.
Construction foam from the manufacturer Makroflex is a good application for the future. The very idea of replacing a trough with a solution with a kilogram canister is worthy of full approval. Wet processes are performed faster and cleaner, and labor intensity is reduced. But until the glue formula is perfected, you will have to ask yourself every time - in which cases it is worth using Macroflex, and when to return to the good old solution.
Technical description
Foam cement in the Macroflex line is a ready-to-use one-component composition based on polyurethane. Technically, the material was developed as an alternative to cement mortar for masonry work and filling construction joints. According to the manufacturer, liquid concrete in a 0.85 liter cylinder (there are liter containers) can be replaced by a bag of PC 22.5 (M400) cement weighing 25 kg.
Considering the composition, it is worth noting that it meets one of the international requirements for construction aerosols - the absence of propellants in the composition. These are compounds that include molecules of chlorine, fluorine and carbon. Thanks to this, the blown mass practically does not emit unpleasant aromas, and after drying it does not smell at all.

This is what the maximum tensile strength looks like when working with a particular material in compliance with the technological process of gluing the bases (in MPa):
- wood, polycarbonate, some plastics – 2 (close to the tensile strength of cement when working with natural stone);
- plastic (ABS, PVC) – 1 (an analogy can be drawn with the strength of contact between cement plaster or glue with a concrete surface);
- concrete, glass and ceramics, OSB – 0.3-1;
- bitumens and materials based on them, foam plastics - 0.2-0.25 (this is comparable to a bunch of tile adhesive with tiles);
- galvanized metal, plasterboard, porous concrete, ceramic block - 0.1-0.15 (the layer is 8 mm);
- mineral wool, polystyrene foam boards - 0.8 MPa.
Application
Blowing foam concrete in cylinders is carried out using the nozzle attached to the cylinder or a construction gun. In both cases, it is recommended to use the entire amount of content in one go. A specialized tool can be cleaned immediately with a polyurethane foam cleaner from the same manufacturer (this is recommended due to the highest quality result) or from another manufacturer.
The main purpose of polyurethane foam is the construction of structures made of brick and block products.
These are mainly partitions; for load-bearing walls it is worth using traditional cement mortars. Also, adhesive properties and strength indicators allow you to perform the following actions:
- masonry work - construction, reconstruction, repair, replacement of individual elements;
- filling installation gaps and joining seams, corners;
- fixing window frames, door frames, finished slopes and window sills, steps inside a private house.
A cement substitute is also used as an adhesive for decorative cladding, leveling the base with building sheets, insulating and soundproofing facades and walls inside a building with slab materials. Self-containing foam has low thermal conductivity and water absorption, which is important for insulating gaps, for example, between a window profile and the wall of a technological opening.
Advantages and disadvantages
Makroflex foam cement can be classified as a universal building material due to its excellent adhesive properties and low water absorption and thermal conductivity. Foam concrete is stored in compact metal cylinders, which is convenient for storage and transportation.
Characteristics
For specific construction and finishing works, various types of Macroflex foam cement are used. The scope of application depends on the temperature and humidity conditions at the site and the characteristics of the materials that need to be connected.
The general technical characteristics of all products include the following properties:
- density – 20 kg/m3;
- the time required for the formation of surface tension is 5-9 minutes;
- the time required to obtain the calculated strength values is from 25 to 30 minutes;
- water absorption during the day - within 1%, maximum value - no more than 10% during the month;
- sound protection – within 60 dB;
- thermal protection – up to 0.4 W/mhK;
- fluctuations in foam volume – up to 5%.
This material, after gaining strength, is able to maintain design properties at outdoor temperatures from -40°C to +90°C. Short-term temperature surges up to over 100°C are acceptable.
The description of this material states that propellants containing fluorine and chlorine compounds are not used in the solution. Fresh foam emits a slight odor, and when the mounting mixture dries, the odor disappears completely.
Release form and appearance
Adhesive for aerated concrete has high frost resistance and is sold in the form of a dry mixture of 25 kg. These are simple packages that are easy to deliver to your home.
The mixture, sold in a new form, is adhesive foam for blocks. Ideal for work and sold in cans. Since the consistency is liquid, application to the material will be done in a short time, so construction work is completed quickly.
The basis is polyurethane; in its finished form it is economical and adheres well to materials, and is also resistant to negative temperatures.
Most popular manufacturers
Professionals recommend using several products. This is modern nonsense among Russian builders. Purpose – laying foam for the construction of main walls and inter-wall partitions. Used at temperatures from -10°C to +35°C. The calculated adhesion is 0.12 MPa, which corresponds to the tensile strength of concrete. Hardening occurs after 24 hours. With a strip of medium size - 30 mm, the foam extends to a distance of up to 40 m. Price from 320 rubles. This is a white glue for laying aerated concrete blocks.
It is important to take into account the composition and temperature range required for the construction of walls when carrying out work, as well as how many ml are in the cylinder. In addition, you need to pay attention to the certificate of compliance with standards.
General rules of application
The surfaces to be bonded are cleaned before applying the adhesive foam. Remove dust, bitumen, grease, dirt. Work only with dry foam concrete blocks.
Ultraviolet radiation affects the properties of the glue, so after hardening it is covered with a protective layer, and a layer is applied on top:
- gypsum;
- paints;
- sealant.
Masonry
Macroflex adhesive foam is used to bind the partition wall blocks. The product is not intended for load-bearing walls. Masonry is made in regular shaped blocks of the same size. Deviations in dimensions should not exceed 1 mm. You cannot use foam if the blocks have voids. The base for the first row is leveled. It should be smooth, strictly horizontal. Control using a building level. Adhesive foam is applied to the ends of the block (vertical, horizontal) in strips, retreating 3-5 cm from the edge. The unsuccessfully placed element must be removed within 1 minute.
During work, take 3 minutes as a guideline; this is the time during which several operations need to be performed:
- apply glue to all surfaces of the block;
- install it in place;
- lightly tap the block from above to align it in a horizontal plane;
- Check the level for horizontalness.
A wall built using Macroflex adhesive foam can be plastered after 2 hours.
Gypsum panels
First prepare the surface of the wall (ceiling). Remove remnants of previous finishing, wallpaper, paint. Prime if the surface quickly absorbs moisture, then proceed to the main work:
- place the panel on a flat surface;
- retreat from the horizontal edge 5 cm;
- squeeze out the first strip of Macroflex adhesive foam, leading it parallel to the edge;
- Apply subsequent strips in increments of 15 cm, maintaining parallelism;
- Place the last strip 5 cm from the edge.
To quickly and efficiently apply adhesive foam, it is worth purchasing a specialized (professional) gun model. When installing a gypsum panel you need:
- apply glue;
- install the panel in 3 minutes;
- press the panel against the main surface, adjusting its position;
- hold for 5 minutes until the foam holds the materials together.
After just 2 hours, you can begin the next stage of work.
Window sills
Clean the surface of the window opening. Dirt and oil stains impair adhesion. You can remove them with white spirit. Squeeze foam glue onto the prepared window sill. Apply it in parallel stripes. For strong fixation, 2-3 extruded tapes are enough.
Stair steps
When attaching steps to wooden spacers, glue strips are applied parallel to the edge. For a narrow step, 2 spacers are enough. For a wide one, 3 are required, 2 on the edges, one in the middle. When applying glue between the strips, maintain a standard distance of 10-15 cm. Within 3 minutes, set the step in place, level it, and press it. To prevent it from rising upward, place a load weighing at least 10 kg on it. It is removed after 60 minutes.
Professional mounting foam cement, 0.85 l
Application:
- construction of walls and partitions
- foam concrete, aerated concrete, ceramic blocks
— 1 cylinder replaces 25 kg of cement or dry glue
— productivity up to 10 sq. m of masonry from one cylinder - high adhesion to mineral substrates
— 100% thermal insulation (no cold bridges) - the next stage of work is possible after 2 hours
- resistance to mold and moisture
— shelf life: 15 months.
APPLICATION DIRECTIONS
Surface preparation. Clean the surface from any contaminants – grease, dirt, bitumen and dust. Before applying glue, make sure that there are no loose particles on the surfaces to be glued. Foam concrete blocks must be dry. Other surfaces may be damp but free of ice or frost. Residues of anti-adhesive substances, vapor-impervious paints and coatings with low adhesive properties must be completely removed.
Application
Ambient temperature for use is from -5°C to +35°C. The ideal temperature of the cylinder when using is +23°C. The temperature of the cylinder can vary within the permissible range from +5°C to +30°C. It is recommended to keep the container at room temperature for at least 12 hours. Shake the can vigorously before use (15-20 times). Remove the adapter protective cap and securely install the cylinder onto the gun, while holding the cylinder in the bottom down position. During application, keep the can upside down. The speed of foam release is regulated by pressing the trigger, as well as the adjusting screw of the gun. Apply Macroflex Foam Cement Construction evenly in accordance with the instructions depending on the type of use. During operation, it is recommended to shake the container periodically. It is not recommended to remove the cylinder from the gun until it is fully used. To replace a cylinder, you must carefully remove the empty cylinder from the gun and immediately replace it with a new one to prevent the foam inside the gun from curing and blocking over time. If work with foam is completed, you must carefully remove the gun from the cylinder and clean it with a special liquid, Makroflex Premium Cleaner. Hardened foam is removed mechanically.
STORAGE AND HANDLING
Recommended use within 15 months. The maximum shelf life is achieved at a temperature no higher than +25°C and no lower than +5°C (up to -20°C for a short time). It is recommended to store the cylinder with the valve facing up.
Transporting a cylinder in a passenger car: a cylinder wrapped in fabric should be left in the trunk, never transported in the passenger compartment.
MAIN AREAS OF APPLICATION
■ Linking building blocks
■ Fixing insulating panels to facades and foundations, interior finishing panels to walls.
■ Filling small cavities
■ Installation of stair steps
■ Installation of window sills
ATTENTION! Cured adhesive foam should be protected from exposure to ultraviolet radiation by paint, a layer of sealant, plaster, mortar or other types of coatings
Rules for using "Macroflex"
To get an ideal result, you need to apply foam only according to the technology indicated by the manufacturer.
Preparation for use
Before use, the cylinder is brought into the room and kept at room temperature for at least 12 hours. Immediately before use, shake the container for 15 seconds, then remove the protection cap and screw on the gun. In the working position, the cylinder should be positioned upside down. The release of foam is controlled by pulling the trigger of the gun.
Before starting work, prepare the base or joining surfaces. They should be clean, free of dirt, dust, and construction debris. It is important that the base is not icy or covered with snow; however, it is allowed to be slightly moist, which even enhances adhesion.
All contact surfaces adjacent to the workers are covered with film or covered with masking tape. If the substrate is not level, level concrete mortar is applied to it in advance, otherwise the strength of the masonry will decrease.
Application of Macroflex foam
Working with foam does not require any special skills or abilities. The composition only needs to be applied evenly to the base, shaking the container periodically. When building a brick or block wall, the foam is sprayed in two continuous strips up to 4 cm wide, retreating from the edge of the elements by 3-5 cm. If they are building a thin wall of 0.5-1 bricks, make only one strip in the middle.
Sheet materials are glued as follows: foam is applied to the underside of the material in spots in increments of 15 cm, moving 5 cm from the edge, then immediately connected or leaned against walls or other structures, and pressed firmly. Hold the sheets or panels for 5 minutes, then proceed to work with the next element. The seams are rubbed down 2 hours after installation is completed.
When installing window sills, apply foam cement in three strips to the fixing part of the product. Afterwards, the window sill is placed in its proper place, pressed on top with a weight, and left for an hour. To check the evenness, use a level, correcting the position of the window sill for 2-3 minutes. Steps and prefabricated stair structures are installed in a similar way. When sealing seams and holes, take into account that the foam will expand greatly in the future, so they are not filled completely.

Specifications
Foam cement is recommended to be used at temperatures from +21 to +25 degrees C; it is also allowed to be used when the indicators reach -5 to +35 degrees. If we draw an analogy with other similar mixtures for installation, Macroflex foam cement is suitable for work between seasons and has a density of 20 kg/m3.
After distributing the foam, a film will form on the surface within 5-9 minutes. Complete hardening will occur in half an hour, but under certain conditions it can take 25 minutes. The volume changes by 5%!, both increasing and decreasing depending on influencing factors. In one day, moisture absorption will be no more than 1%!, and in 28 days the value can be increased by no more than 10%!
Foam cement "Macroflex" has good sound-absorbing qualities, these parameters reach 60 dB. It is important to take into account the thermal conductivity characteristics, which vary from 0.037 to 0.40 W/m*K. When the building mixture hardens, the heat resistance will be from -40 to +90 degrees C.
The strength properties of the connection of polyurethane foam with the addition of cement mortar will be excellent. This method can be used to glue wood and polymer materials. The strength of the bonded wood will be 2 MPa, the same data will be for the connection of granite elements with cement. When ABS and PVC plastic are joined with glue, the strength will be 1 MPa. The connection characteristics are compared to the connection of a concrete surface with cement mortar.
Elements that do not have a high pore structure and average adhesion strength data will reach 0.3 MPa. This also includes ceramic, glass and concrete products. Similar data will be present in interconnected OSB boards. Coatings made of foam plastic and bitumen will have much worse adhesion, and the indicators will be 0.2-0.25 MPa.
The gluing performance will be even lower with the adhesion of plasterboard, galvanization and mineral wool. If the mixture layer is 8 mm, then a strength of 0.10 to 0.15 MPa is expected. For this reason, such building materials can be glued together if there is no load on them.
Advantages and disadvantages
- Ease of use.
- Thanks to the packaging in a tube, the mounting foam with Macroflex cement is simply applied using a mounting gun.
- Insulation of seams from moisture.
- Minimizing heat loss.
- Low price.
- Complete hardening time is 25-30 minutes. After hardening, the material is able to withstand temperatures from -40 to + 110 degrees C.
- It is simple and convenient to carry out work at subzero temperatures.
- Performance qualities that allow you to work with different surfaces. The professional adhesive mortar Macroflex has high sealing of joints during laying.
- The device has a convenient design that allows you to control consumption.
- Has high adhesion to concrete, wood, stone and metal materials.
The disadvantages of the mixtures include significant shrinkage. But foam cement does not have a large expansion volume when used, for this reason the shrinkage of the material is barely noticeable. Due to the high density characteristics, there is an additional disadvantage - increased consumption of adhesive foam. The material has a tendency to gradually deteriorate under the influence of ultraviolet radiation; in order to prevent such a process, the hardened foam should be covered with cement or sealant.
Application
Foam cement is used for the following types of repair work:
- When building a brick or block wall, glue should be applied in two continuous strips on the surface of the blocks, stepping back from the edge by 3-5 cm. If a half-brick wall is being built, one strip of cement mixture in the center will be enough. To avoid various distortions in the vertical surface, it is better to lay brickwork using foam on a pre-prepared, flat surface. Otherwise, you will need to lay a regular concrete mortar on the foundation base, and the first row will be leveled.
- Plasterboard structures are glued in this way: the adhesive mixture is applied to the underside of the plasterboard sheet, over the entire surface area, one step is equal to 15 cm, retreating from the edge 5 cm. It is recommended to carry out the work at an active pace, because if the sheet is not installed in time, the after 3 minutes the foam cement will no longer be sticky. When Makroflex is applied to a plasterboard surface, it must be immediately applied to the wall surface and pressed down. You need to hold the panel, pressing it for another 5 minutes, then proceed to the next sheet. The seams are rubbed and another finishing is carried out 2 hours after installation work.
- Installation of window sills and steps using Macroflex cement is done as follows: apply 2-3 strips of glue to the fixing part of the element. In order for the surfaces to adhere better, you need to press the window sill against the wall with a weight and leave it for an hour. The window sill must be installed level; use a level to check. A similar method is used to install individual elements of steps and prefabricated staircase structures from any material.
It is strictly not recommended to use construction adhesive to construct a load-bearing wall. Professional foam "Makroflex" is intended for laying interior partitions and constructing small architectural structures.

Recommendations for the use of foam adhesive
According to the manufacturer’s instructions and reviews from builders, the optimal air temperature for performing work is +23°C. Acceptable values are from -5 to +35°С. Before use, it is advisable to keep the container at room temperature for 12 hours. It is advisable to select special pistols - Makroflex PP, P99 or BS114.
Application procedure:
- Cover the surfaces around the gap to be treated with film.
- Shake the can 15-20 times.
- Remove the protective adapter.
- Insert the cylinder into the gun upside down.
- Screw the foam tightly onto the gun handle, being careful not to damage the threads.
- Place the can upside down and start applying by pressing the trigger. The feed speed can be adjusted using the handle screw located at the back. During operation, it is necessary to shake periodically.
- Apply the product in an even layer.
Do not remove the cylinder from the gun until completely used. When the foam is used up, it is carefully removed and a new one is inserted immediately, otherwise blocking may occur due to hardening of the residue. There is no need to clean the gun after each cylinder before installing a new one.
After complete completion of work, immediately wash the gun with a special Makroflex Premium Cleaner. It removes uncured compound from surfaces and the applicator. It is a strong solvent and should not be sprayed onto painted materials or plastics. Hardened foam can no longer be removed. To clean, place the cylinder in the gun and leave it for 2 minutes. Pull the trigger and release the solvent. Continue the procedure until the stream comes out without a trace. It is prohibited to use water for cleaning.
After hardening, cover the foam with a layer of paint, plaster, sealant, or mortar. This is necessary to protect it from exposure to sunlight, otherwise destruction begins.
Application for laying wall blocks
- Apply Macroflex cement to the bottom and end sides of the block in strips, retreating 3-5 cm from the edge. When constructing walls more than 11.5 cm thick, make a second strip of glue.
- It is permissible to select blocks for fixing the first row only if the base is level. Otherwise, it is better to use ordinary cement-sand mortar.
- It takes 3 minutes to put the block in place. To ensure strong binding, lightly tap the elements.
- You can change the position within 1 minute. If you had to remove an already connected block, then lay a new portion of foam on it.
- Be sure to check the horizontal level of the masonry in each row. Detected deviations should be ground with a rasp until they are completely eliminated.
- It is allowed to finish the finished wall 2 hours after completion of installation.
- Foam is unsuitable for connecting blocks of irregular shape, hollow ones, or with dimensional deviations of more than 1 mm.
Adhesive foam for fixing gypsum panels, installing window sills and stair steps
It is applied to gypsum panels along the horizontal edges with a distance of 5 cm from the edge. The distance between the glue strips is 15 cm. Place the panel in place within 3 minutes after spreading the glue, be sure to hold it for at least 5 minutes until it sets. The next stage of finishing can begin after 2 hours.
When installing a window sill, glue is applied along its horizontal edges in 2-3 parallel strips. Then the product is precisely positioned and pressed tightly for 1 hour. To glue the steps of the stairs, foam is distributed onto each step in parallel strips located at a distance of 10-15 cm from each other. You need to fix the step for 3 minutes, then install a load weighing about 10 kg for about an hour.
Danger and Precautions
When working with Macroflex, you must remember that when applied it causes:
- skin irritation;
- severe eye irritation;
- allergic reactions on the skin and respiratory system;
- asthmatic reactions or difficulty breathing;
- suspected of cancer (carcinogenicity category 3).
Keep the foam adhesive container out of the reach of children. To avoid harm to health, apply with protective clothing, gloves and goggles or a mask, and do not inhale the vapors. Perform work outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.

- open fire;
- hot surfaces;
- sun rays;
- temperatures above 50°C.
Do not puncture or burn the container, even after use. It is forbidden to point a gun at people. After hardening, the foam layer does not emit substances hazardous to human health, provided there is no exposure to direct sunlight and high temperature.
Reviews about Makroflex
“I used foam cement to glue thermal insulation - polystyrene foam boards. The characteristics of the product are excellent, the consumption is minimal. Disadvantage: when fixing to vertical walls, you have to hold the sheets for some time until the glue sets.”
Alexey, St. Petersburg.
“I purchased a new product - Macroflex. I trust this manufacturer for the price-quality ratio, especially for sealants. I did a simple test: I took a bottle of regular Makroflex Pro foam and a new one. I used both formulations for the same purposes. I didn’t find any difference, the consumption was also the same. Perhaps the new product will not be destroyed by the rays of the sun, but hope is shaky. The result of my experiment: the positive opinion about the product has not changed, but the parameters of the new one are no different from the old Pro brand, and it costs about 25% more. Therefore, I consider the release of this product a marketing ploy.”
Boris, Nizhny Novgorod.
“I’ve been using Macroflex adhesive foam for various jobs around the house for about six months. Glues quickly and well (in about 3 minutes), reliably fills joints and crevices, excellent for wood. The cylinder is enough for a large volume. The downside is the relatively high price, but it’s worth it.”
Vasily, Yekaterinburg.
“After reading the reviews, I bought a new Makroflex. I don’t see any resemblance to cement; in my opinion, it’s ordinary polyurethane foam, only bright silver in color. It comes off easily from brick. I didn't find any advantages. Cons: simple composition for a higher price."
Georgiy, Moscow region.
Home Technologies Construction foam-cement Macroflex
The main purpose of Makroflex foam cement is to replace the usual cement-sand mortar used in the construction of internal partitions and other non-load-bearing walls made of gas silicate blocks and lightweight concrete products. Refusal of dusty (during preparation) and heavy mortar can significantly increase the speed of construction of structures, and the technical characteristics of foam cement in cylinders are not much inferior to traditional building mixtures.
It is believed that a standard aerosol can of liquid material with a volume of 850 ml can replace a 25 kg bag of M400 cement. At the same time, the craftsman will not have to waste time and energy on preparing the solution and transporting it to the construction site, which significantly reduces labor costs during construction and finishing work.
