Design features of the K-1a support ring

The outer diameter of the reinforced concrete support ring K-1a is 1000 mm and the hole diameter is 600 mm. In cross-section, it has the shape of a T-bar with a height of 180 mm, with a shelf 120 mm wide. The outer diameter of the ring wall is 840 mm, which allows the product to be supported on the head ring. The body of a cast iron or concrete hatch covering the hole is placed on the shelf of the ring.

The K-1a ring is made according to factory working drawings, developed on the basis of the album code RK 2201-82 of the Mosinzhproekt design institute, from heavy concrete with a compressive strength class of B 22.5 and with frost resistance and water resistance grades F200 and W6, respectively.

The product is reinforced with a mesh of wire reinforcement Ø 4B-I. For mounting the rings, 4 sling loops made of Ø6 A-I reinforcement are provided. The total consumption of concrete for the K-1a ring is 0.053 m³, and reinforcement of classes A-I and B-I is 1.87 kg.

The K-1a support ring is placed on top of the neck rings using a cement-sand mortar. The marking of the top of the ring should be such that the manhole cover is flush with the top layer of the road surface. After installing the ring, the sling loops are cut off so as not to interfere with the installation of the hatch body.

The main requirements for concrete for wells are strength, density and water resistance (W4), since concrete wells are buried below the groundwater level. The choice of element size is carried out depending on the purpose of the reinforced concrete well being constructed. The diameter of the support ring well elements K-1 must correspond to the diameter of the working chamber. Sewage wells and rings are wider than water and gas pipes. And if wells are used for intra-block networks, then it is worth considering that such pipelines are much narrower.

Only so-called shrinkage cracks, barely visible to the eye, with a width of no more than one tenth of a millimeter are possible. Minor deviations in the geometric parameters of the rings are possible, no more than ±5 mm in thickness, ±6 mm in the diameter of the reinforced concrete product. The surfaces of the product should not have a large number of holes with a diameter of more than 15 mm and a depth of more than 5 mm. Finished reinforced concrete wells should not hide the mounting loops of the elements behind the flow of concrete, as this may complicate the installation of parapet slabs.

Storage and transportation of concrete well elements

Elements of concrete ring support K-1 wells should be stored in stacks in the working position, face up. One stack should not consist of more than 3-5 rows, in order to avoid falling and deformation of reinforced concrete products. For delivery, the products are stacked no higher than 2.5 meters and securely fastened. During transportation and storage, gaskets with a thickness of at least 40 mm must be placed between the elements.

Currently, reinforced concrete rings are widely used to form round wells for gas, sewer and water supply networks.
In addition, reinforced concrete well rings are used to form drinking wells. Modern reinforced concrete sewer wells are formed by installing several rings at the bottom of the well, on top of each other. They are covered from above with a floor slab with a round or rectangular hole. The openings are closed with grates or covers.

The starting material for the production of reinforced concrete rings is heavy concrete, which can have three degrees of permeability: N - normal, O - very low, P - reduced.

For reinforcement of products, BP-I wire, rod steel in accordance with GOST 5781–82 and thermomechanically strengthened reinforcement in accordance with GOST 10884 are used. The support ring KO 6 is made of heavy concrete class B15 and reinforced with one mesh of steel class AI, A-II, A-Sh. The grade of concrete in terms of frost resistance of the support ring is not less than F50, water resistance is not less than W2.
