Formwork locks: wedge, universal, spring, screw, extended

When using formwork in monolithic construction, special attention is paid to locking systems. They ensure the stability and stability of the structure forming liquid concrete, guarantee its rigidity and the tightness of all connecting seams. Let's take a closer look at what types of formwork locks there are, their description and the use of each type. This will help you make the right choice of connecting elements for a specific type of structure.

There are the following types of formwork locks, each of which has its own purpose and performance characteristics:

  • universal;
  • wedge;
  • spring;
  • elongated;
  • screw.

Without the listed connecting parts, it is impossible to produce a high-quality monolithic reinforced concrete structure. They speed up the assembly of the formwork system and subsequent dismantling. Properly selected formwork locks, the price of which depends on the type of part and the material of its production, simplify the work as much as possible. Their installation and dismantling is carried out with a hammer or wrenches, which increases the productivity of the construction team and guarantees the integrity of the reinforced concrete or concrete structure.

Our company offers to buy formwork locks with maximum performance characteristics in Moscow. We offer a wide range of components for formwork systems of all sizes and types. We offer affordable prices for all formwork locks presented in the catalog, as well as rental of the necessary equipment.

Wedge lock for shields

This type of lock is used when connecting panels vertically or horizontally, as well as to align panels and panels with each other. The wedge lock for formwork ensures tight joints of panel formwork, which, in turn, guarantees a perfectly flat concrete surface. Since the wedge lock is not dismountable, there is no need to worry about losing parts during installation. This lock is made of galvanized steel or cast iron and is compatible with both steel and aluminum formwork. On average, a lock weighs about 2.5 kg, but there are products that are several times heavier. There are quite cheap formwork locks, the price of which will suit everyone, one of them is called “Crab”. It is manufactured using precision casting and weighs only 3 kg.

Description and purpose

Since formwork locks ensure the strength of the entire structure, the highest demands are placed on their quality. The use of low-quality components for formwork will lead to the need to completely redo the construction of a monolithic structure.

For the manufacture of fasteners, steel or gray cast iron is used; the casting method is used for manufacturing. In this way, the product is obtained in one piece, without seams. To ensure corrosion resistance, the following methods of processing parts are used:

  • powder paint coating;
  • anodizing;
  • galvanizing.

Advice! On sale you can find varieties of connecting elements for uncoated formwork. They have a lower price, but their service life is much shorter.

With the help of properly selected fasteners, formwork structures made of plastic, steel, and wood can be connected. Fasteners are used to create vertical and horizontal seams.

Spring lock for all types of formwork

The main advantage is its use in any type of formwork, regardless of the material. The device is a clamp that must be put on the reinforcement and secured with a key. This is the easiest way to fix the formwork, which has a number of advantages:

  • The spring lock is simple and easy to use;
  • Does not require additional equipment during installation;
  • This type is the cheapest and most accessible to everyone;
  • The clamp can withstand up to 2000 kg, but there are even more reinforced models.

Installation

Fasteners are used in the assembly of various types of formwork systems. Installation features depend on the design. It is necessary to perform the following operations:

  • shields are installed according to the diagram;
  • their initial alignment is carried out;
  • fasteners are installed;
  • final alignment and tightening is carried out.

To install the wedge fastening, you need to carry out a number of simple steps:

  • the jaws capture the profiles of neighboring panels;
  • A wedge is driven into the holes on the jaws; a hammer is used to do this work.

Spring ties are used to fasten panels as follows:

  • the reinforcement is inserted into the holes located on the panels;
  • fasteners are put on the reinforcement on both sides;
  • on one side the springs lock automatically, on the other they are tightened using a special key.

Installing a screw lock is not difficult. Fastening is done by screwing on the nuts. The lock ensures a tight and reliable connection.

Universal or “extended” lock

This type of lock is also called “extended”. Universal locks are used to connect formwork panels, as well as to align them along the abutment plane. The difference between the lock and other types is the possibility of using an insert between panels up to 250mm wide. Also, a universal lock allows you to connect panels at right angles, which is especially convenient when constructing foundations. This lock is perfect for all types of formwork and has the following advantages:

  • Any shields will be connected smoothly, tightly and coherently;
  • The lock is easy to install even with one hand;
  • Essential for internal, external and hinged corners.

Accessories

When constructing any monolithic system, you cannot do without special components that can give the structure high strength.

Types and features of application

According to the principle of operation, mounting elements are divided into wedge, screw, eccentric, spring, universal, rack and some others.

Mounting lock

It is this that is the key component, guaranteeing reliable fastening of the shields.

This type of fastener can be divided into two large groups:

Wedge locks

Cast iron or galvanized steel is used as the raw material for their production, which guarantees reliability and ensures low cost products.

Structurally, a cast wedge lock consists of a wedge and a pair of “legs”. In the center there is a hole with a wedge, when driven in, the “legs” are pulled together. Installation of one element takes just a few minutes.

They are one of the most popular models of locks for monoliths. With their help, vertical and horizontal formwork panels are connected and leveled.

Advantages:

  • multiple use,
  • maintaining reliability and safety criteria even after repeated use,
  • low cost,
  • ease of installation and no need to use special tools,
  • high installation speed,
  • readiness to withstand significant loads (as practice shows, up to one and a half tons).

Screw lock

To fix the formwork panels, extended screw systems are used.

Structurally, they are a bar made of cast iron or steel, on which movable and static “jaws” are located. When tightening the screw, the movable “jaw” moves along the bar until it rests and fixes the profile.

The benefits include:

  • wide range of sizes and the ability to be used in the construction of various objects,
  • rigid and tight connection,
  • reliable fixation of the panels and perfect leveling of the surface, and, as a result, high quality of the final result.

Cam lock

The self-jamming mechanism guarantees the reliability of the structure. You must be prepared for the fact that you will have to apply some force during dismantling.

It is a “sponge” rigidly attached to the back. Another “sponge” is located on a hinged support. Its movement is ensured by an eccentric lever. The greater the pressure from the strapping circuit on the “jaws,” the more firmly they fix the shields.

Advantages:

  • ease and simplicity of installation,
  • excellent quality of panel connections.

Spring lock

It replaces outdated nuts and screws and requires only a wrench for installation.

Among the main advantages are:

  • can be used for any type of formwork system,
  • simplicity and convenience - the clamp is fixed on the reinforcement and secured using a standard tool,
  • low cost,
  • standard models can withstand up to 2 tons.
  • Universal rack locks

Rack lock

It only takes a few minutes to install the fastener, tighten and align the sheets, clamping the additional inserts.

The benefits include:

  • unique design ideally resists any vibrations,
  • multifunctionality,
  • ease of installation.

Universal lock

They are actively used in monolithic construction. Provides the necessary rigidity of the entire structure in accordance with the technical features of the project.

With its help they do:

  • high-quality, durable and uniform joining of panels,
  • shield alignment,
  • clamping and fastening of inserts,
  • connection of panels at right angles.

The main advantages are:

  • compatibility with your favorite type of monolithic frames,
  • ease of installation.

Installation technology

Iron formwork panels are secured with locks in increments that can give the entire structure the required stability, taking into account, at the same time, the pressure exerted on each square meter of concrete mixture being poured. To make the fastenings more reliable, holes are drilled in the sheets, which are intended for mounting the clamping legs. Additionally, the strength of the formwork is increased by transverse beams made of wood, mounted in places of interlocking joints over the entire area of the assembled structure.

By means of transverse beams, the pressure from the clamp is distributed, local deformation of the iron sheets is eliminated. It is well known that fastening elements are required when installing any formwork system, the installation procedure depends on the design features of which.

The procedure is as follows:

  • formwork panels are installed in accordance with the conditions of design solutions;
  • their initial alignment is carried out;
  • locks are installed;
  • The final adjustment of the structure is carried out, and it is tightly tightened.

Installation of spring clamps:

  • Install reinforcement bars into the holes; they should extend beyond the boundaries of the formwork by approximately 15 centimeters;
  • put a clamp on the protruding end of the rod;
  • move it close to the shield;
  • put the key on the clamp, securing it with a small lever;
  • turn the large lever and secure the clip.

Dismantling formwork clamps

When using formwork systems in the construction of monolithic reinforced concrete structures, it is necessary not only to know the techniques of their installation, but also to be able to carefully disassemble the structure in order to use it in the future.

Dismantling work begins as soon as the concrete mixture has completely hardened and accumulated the required strength coefficient. First of all, the fastening elements are dismantled, then the algorithm of actions is as follows:

  • when using a wedge clamp, the wedge is released with a hammer and the clamp jaws are removed;
  • when the connection was made with a spring clamp, it is necessary to dismount the clamping parts, leaving the reinforcing rod in the thickness of the concrete, and cut off the protruding pieces of reinforcement;
  • in a screw connection, simply unscrew the nuts.

Removing spring locks

After the concrete mixture has hardened, hit the tongue of the “frog” with a hammer and remove the clamp. Cut off the protruding parts of the rod.

Having removed the locking elements, they begin to carefully disassemble the shields in order to move them to another area of work.
