Do we pour concrete steps with our own hands for the porch of a private house? Step-by-step instructions + Video

What is required, what principles to follow, how to properly prepare the solution when creating a concrete porch with your own hands? If you rely on this article, it is easy to choose a suitable staircase option and bring the idea to life.

Any work begins with the selection of suitable building materials. To pour a concrete porch, you need a concrete mixture marked M100 or M200. Manufacturers offer their own versions of the solution, but it is not difficult to prepare a suitable one yourself. The calculation can be done using a calculator.

For it you will need:

  • Beautiful concrete paths:…
  • Laying linoleum with your own hands:...
  • cement for binding components, grade M400 or M500;
  • medium-fraction crushed stone or gravel serving as filler;
  • sifted sand, which creates the desired consistency of the mixture;
  • water.

The list of additional building materials needed to pour a concrete staircase for the porch is small; you won’t have to spend too much:

  • For reinforcement, rods with a cross-sectional diameter of 6 to 10 mm are used. The reinforcement helps strengthen the array;
  • the formwork frame is assembled from metal or wooden blanks, bars or boards, moisture-resistant plywood, with which the structure is sheathed, and it is fixed with self-tapping screws or nails;
  • to prepare the spatial frame you need a knitting wire;
  • Waterproofing is carried out using polyethylene or roofing felt.

To fill the volume when filling the porch, broken brick, crushed stone, construction waste, stone are used - everything that allows you to fill the volume.

Every craftsman will have the tools that make it easy to create a flooded porch. The list is as follows:

  • measuring instrument: building level, tape measure;
  • saw for preparing formwork elements, you can use a hacksaw for wood;
  • shovels (bayonet for digging a pit, shovel for working with concrete mixture);
  • grinder – for cutting reinforcing bars, complete with a metal cutting wheel;
  • a hammer drill, which will need to drill channels for laying reinforcement;
  • spatula or trowel for leveling the surface of the concrete pour;
  • hammer.

You also need special equipment, which is easiest to rent from construction companies for the period of work.

The working mixture is prepared in a concrete mixer, and in order to sufficiently compact the concrete mass, a vibrating tamper is installed.

A more labor-intensive option is to mix the solution manually in a suitable container, however, if the porch is planned to be small, this method will be sufficient.

Planning and calculations

The project requires attention to many points. You will need to choose an option for the future staircase, determine what the appearance and finish will be, perform drawings and calculations.

The shape of the staircase is selected based on the general appearance of the building. The entrance design must match and complement it. Round and square, rectangular and trapezoidal flights of stairs can be accompanied by fences, railings on which they will rest when climbing, figured forged balusters, and glazing.

Decorative metal fences can be equipped with a special grille with a lock. Open access is also possible, when you can climb from any side. A round threshold can turn into a more interesting design variation - a non-standard shape with smooth outlines.
